Yep, the Braves O will be great here on out. Once we get our lineup healthy, we're still the best O in the NL. Look at the stats. We rank first in the NL in almost every offensive stat. Some stats aren't even close with the second place team. You guys are 3rd in the NL in runs scored and still 60 runs behind us. Having Utley and Victorino out right now really hurts though so it could be a fun race to watch. Oh, and Andruw SUCKS - we both know that. Can't use him as part of your argument. You guys had a great offensive game last night, but Johnson and Francouer could just as easily go 0-8 tonight. Plus, you're playing Houston who's almost last in the NL in ERA. We beat up on Ted Lilly Mon night. As good a pickup as you made at first yesterday, our first baseman is still better offensively. So, how should we quantify our bet? Total runs or break it out into categories like HRs, RBI, batting avg., total runs, etc. I will take your bet. The Phils O doesn’t scare me. Meanwhile, our6-7-8 hitters hit 4 homers last night. Chipper is having an MVP season withAndruw hitting behind him. Now add Texand move Andruw down a spot. The OBP of our 1-2-3 hitters is unreal. I am justhoping for some better pitching. We should have a bet between us to see who has more offense the rest of the way out between the Phils and Braves. Victorino's outso I may be at a disadvantage, but what the hell? I'm not sure how long he'sout for. I think we've got one more game to play than you so that evens thescore a little if we were to note the total runs as of right now. Or we could measure offense in some other way besides total runs. |

| You are seriously being misled by stats like most fantasy players are. Nobody used Andruw as an argument here. He has been bad, but I take him all day over Burrell. Of course Frenchy and Johnson could have gone 0 for 8, but that isn't much of a point. Frenchy is hitting over .300 for the year and Johnson around .290. They are very consistent and about as good as you are going to find anywhere in the 7 and 8 hole. I don't remember you guys adding a Texeira to your lineup either. The Phils have overachieved offensively. Time for reality to come crashing down just like Chase Utley's season. |

| Ouch - low blow! Utley will be back in 3 weeks. We didn't add anyone but there really was no one out there to get. Tex was the only offensive player on the blocks and we certainly don't need a first baseman. The only position where I could see the Phils trying to offensively improve at is 3B. We didn't have a need to bolster offense so that's why we didn't. We needed pitching and there wasn't squat out there. Best we could do was Lohse - he's 6-12 but granted that's for a lousy Reds team.....that swept you at home not so long ago!!! |

| It is not a matter of if you should have improved yourself. It is a matter of comparing apples and oranges. Atlanta's offense is dramatically different, so you can't compare pre-trade offenses. Let's count Aug 1 through the end of the season and see how things go. In the end, all that matters is that Atlanta will win the NL East and the Mets and Phils will be at home come October. The NL West is taking the wild card. |

One thing I will agree on is the Braves winning the NL East. That's why I wouldn't bet on an outright winner. I have confidence in the Phils' offense and would put our lineup against anyone in the NL but I have no confidence in wins - especially with how banged up we are right now. I'm not saying I disagree, I'm just not so sure about the West winning the Wild Card. Much more depth in that division but the Phils and Mets will compete with them. It'll be close. So, what are we betting and how do we measure? I'd like to have multiple categories (HR, RBI, etc), but that might get a bit complicated. |

| I say we just go with runs scored. No bets though. Just you offering to buy me a steak as we celebrate the Braves winning. |
