Philly 10 Atlanta 11. Interesting start to the final two months. Of course it really started Tuesday when Philly only scored 4 to Atlanta’s 12. I have to blame Bobby for last night’s loss. Soriano came on when the game was 9-5 and had some bad luck with the Renteria injury that aided the bases loaded nobody out situation. Though it wasn’t Soriano’s fault, Bobby should have brought in Mahay to have a lefty pitch to the lefty pinch hitter Lamb. He left Soriano in who gave up a game tying grand slam. Then Bobby blew it in the bottom of the 10th. Willie Harris led off with a single. Ausmus has had trouble throwing out runners. They had to be aggressive and steal 2nd on the first pitch. Then have Diaz get Harris over to 3rd with one out. With Harris’ speed, anything on the infield would have scored him. Bobby didn’t steal and the Braves couldn’t move Harris over. The bottom of the 11th had a lead off walk to Tex. The Braves got him to 2nd on a hit by pitch but that was it. Bobby is a very by the numbers guy. He doesn’t like to take chances and that is something that bites him in the post season. From time to time it seems like Bobby gambles with a suicide squeeze, but he is actually still playing the numbers or the infamous “book” in those situations. I guess we have to take the good with the bad. |

Yeah, as it stands now our bet is Braves 23 Phillies 14. We'll just have to remember at the end of the season to subtract 578 runs from the Phillies final # and 518 from the Braves. I'm thinking if I lose, I should have to do something that has me doing the tomahawk chop, which I hate. I stayed up to watch that Braves game last night. Went to bed after the 12th when you guys tied it up to keep it going. Staying up any later to watch a game that doesn't even involve the team I root for wasn't going to happen. You guys get Colorado now and we're in Milwaukee.

Braves lead 65-57. Tonight's game was all about blown opportunities for the Phils. You guys trot out a guy called up from Richmond with an ERA of nearly 16 and he shuts us down for 4 solid innings for the most part. When we started making noise in the 5th, we couldn't finish the deal and stranded 2 after having 2 on with no outs. Can't complain too much after the way the top of the 9th worked out for you. But if there was a great opportunity for us to catch you in our bet, tonight was the night. Instead, you guys beat up on our starter. It amazes me that we're still in the NL East and Wild Card races with how bad our starting rotation is and how many injuries we have to our lineup. Rubber match tomorrow!

68-62 Braves. Even though this takes the whole year into consideration, here are some other NL stats. Total at bats: Braves rank 1st, Phils 3rd - though we'll pass you here when we play our game in hand; runs: Phils 1st, Braves 3rd; Hits: Braves 1st, Phils 2nd (we'd need 17 hits to catch you in our game in hand); doubles: Phils 1st, Braves 2nd; triples: Phils: tied for 1st, Braves: tied for 5th; homers: Phils: 3rd, Braves: tied for 6th; total bases: Phils 1st, Braves: tied for 3rd; RBIs: Phils 1st, Braves: 3rd; Avg: Braves: 1st, Phils 3rd; OBP: Phils 1st, Braves: 3rd, SLG: Phils 1st, Braves: 4th, OPS: Phils 1st, Braves tied for 4th

73-65 Braves. The gap is getting wider. Interesting how all 3 teams in the East are playing crappy teams and all 3 were in trouble of losing their games. Thought you guys were going down in the top of the 9th last night!

79-69 Braves. First time it's been at double digits since Aug 5th or somewhere around there. We need our injured guys back! I think Utley and Victorino are both getting close to getting back. Might only be a week or two away!

Leave it to the Phillies on a night where they win and the Braves get killed by a bad team to only make up one run in the race. So it's 82-71 Braves. I think I miscalculated the Phils' run total in my previous post. Oh yeah, welcome to the 600 run club Bravos. Took ya long enough, losers!!!

Tied you up last night. Tonight sucked. We lose to a bad Pittsburgh team and you get smoked by a scary Diamondbacks team. You score some garbage runs at the end when the game was over to tie us for the night. Score is dead even now at 88-88. Remember what my reason was for starting this bet in the first place. I was pissed the day you guys got Teixera how the Braves announcers were going on and on about how the Braves now had by far the best offense in the NL. I got a little frustrated by that because I still think the Phillies offense is just as good or still better. Even if I lose the bet, I just want the Phils to make it close so I can be proven right. Maybe the Braves will win in the end, but there's no way that they're miles ahead of Philly in offense. Maybe inches or even a few feet, but the way the announcers were talking that night, it was miles and miles and that made me mad.

I've been out of town for a few days. I come back and you guys are up 135-108 - what the hell happened? I knew we were sucking bad but I see the Braves are even with us in the standings still. I guess you guys are losing but still scoring a lot of runs. Today's going well for us, since we're up 14-1 and you guys are getting shut out. Still 4 innings left in both games though.

I feel like tonight was a win for my team even though you guys extended your lead. As impressive as 13 runs against Florida may be, 9 against the Mets is much more impressive. 149-131 Braves. Last night I thought you guys had an off day today for some reason. Still think we're gonna catch you.

I know what the prizes of this bet should be. If I win, you have to write out a message on this board that says "The Braves announcers are morons. When the Braves landed Teixeira at the deadline, it made their offense much better. But the TBS announcers are such homers that they make statements based on their opinions as state them as facts. The fact is, even with Teixeria the Braves still aren't the best offense and this has been proven on the scoreboards since August 1st. They must bow down to the Phillies power and this even while two of the most important pieces of the Phillies offense were sidelined with injuries. THE PHILLIES OFFENSE SCARES ME." You can write the message I have to put if you win. Maybe putting the message on this board isn't enough. We can discuss that too. Braves lead 152-135 and we have 2 games in hand to make that up. One of those 2 games is this Thursday against the Mets so I'm not sure how much we'll make up for in that game. |

Well you guys held the league from day 1 in August all the way til the end of the month. Now we take the lead on Sep 1 for the first time. Let's see if we can hold it till the end of the season. 164-161 Phils. We'll extend the lead when we sweep you at your place next. Off to a good start today - beating you 4-1 as of this moment. You're going down!!! and so are the Braves announcers!
