Disappointing losses for both of us man. You guys were absolutely no help with the Mets so now we're going to have to take out our frustration on you today. It's clear that the Braves will be watching the playoffs on TV and it's starting to look like the same will hold true of the Phillies. But at least I'm going to win our bet. We'll sweep you in your place but meanwhile the Mets play the Reds and they'll get a boost from Pedro coming off the DL. Sadly, the Mets are going to cruise to the East title again. 170-163 Phillies.

It's taken me a couple days to cool down from that devastating loss. I'm glad the national media is calling it like it is and focusing on Gordon and Myers sucking balls rather than calling it like it's some great achievement by Atlanta. I think you and I could go out there and score 7 runs in 2 innings against those losers. What's funny is that several ESPN personalities are still picking the Phils to win the Wild Card. I'd be shocked if that happened! Anyway as far as I'm concerned, baseball season is over except for this bet. We're still going to win because fortunately for us, the bet has nothing to do with our bullpen. Actually, it helps because the team knows that no lead is safe and they need to keep tacking on runs in the early innings. 184-179 Phillies.

It's amazing to me that both of our teams are still in the Wild Card race as bad as things have been lately. Oh well, we still lead the runs race and with you playing the Mets and us playing the Rockies, I don't think we'll be giving up that lead any time soon. Since you're whining like a little girl about it, we won't count Thursday's game against the Rockies in our bet. That's the game in hand we have on you guys. If you think we should delete another game, you tell me. Phillies 204-199.

We were building a comfortable lead and then you guys outscore us 13-2 in one night. Ouch! Should be a fun race to the end. Since you guys held the lead for the entire month of August, I was hoping we would hold the lead for the entire month of September. Guess that won't happen now. 214-212 Braves.

Season over for both of us! Holy crap the Phillies are just awful. We're going to get humiliated by the Mets this weekend. On top of that, the Braves keep widening this margin so maybe I lose my bet too. My only hope is that Hamels comes back and gives the team a spark. As mentioned before, I won't count today's game in hand since you're a whiny little girl. 217-212 Braves.

Well it blows that I agreed to not count last Thursday's game since we scored 12 that day. Even so, you guys couldn't pull away from us while you played the lowly Nats and we were busy sweeping the Mets again. This just proves that you will lose your bet. There are 13 games left for both of us and it's getting closer to a reality that I have already won in my mind. All along I've been saying that as long as we keep it close, my anger against the Joe Simpson is warranted. The Braves are NOT the best offense in the league by miles and miles like he cheered into into his microphone on August 1st while choking on his own splooge. The Braves might squeak out a win in our little race but it won't be by miles and miles. 13 games to go: 232-230 Braves. I still laugh at anyone who thinks the Phillies are going to make the playoffs. Anyone who thinks that doesn't follow this team's history very closely.

The Mets bullpen is starting to look like the Phillies bullpen. What a joke! We're still not making the playoffs. Write it down and put your house on it. The Phillies will beat the Braves in runs scored post-Teixeria though. 258-255 Phillies.

The season ended a long time ago for Atlanta. At least you are still alive. It doesn't matter for me except that I can just root against NY. Regardless, we have a major head to head match-up coming up that could decide our challenge and could be the difference in your playoff hopes.

You're right. You guys will beat us at least once this week which will put the Phillies too far behind to catch the Mets. The Padres will squeeze it out and win the wild card. I'll still win our bet though. I'm hoping we can get to 900 runs for the season. 271-267 Phillies.

Damn! This sucks! I'm getting sucked in. I held out as long as I could. I still know how it's gonna end, but now I can't help but be hopeful as the Mets get drilled and the Padres lose while we sit idle and pull to a tie with San Diego and 2 games back of the Mets. We're still gonna find some way to miss the playoffs but now I find myself actually thinking we can sneak in. I'm gonna hate myself later for it! Good luck tonight! (I'm still gonna win the runs total bet!)

This still sucks! Now we're tied with the Mets!. We're still not gonna make the playoffs but with only 3 games left and the way the Mets and Phillies are playing right now, even the most pessimistic of Phillies fans have to be hopeful about winning the division. Maybe we reverse '64! Anyway, one thing we now know is that the Braves are out. Sorry to be the team that did it, but someone had to. Also, we are going to win the runs race - now it's just a matter of what you're going to have to do when you lose. If you go back in this thread, I came up with a good idea that I think I'll stick with. 288-283 Phillies.

Wow, what a finish. I'm so happy not only about the great comeback by the Phils this month but especially because it was the Mets who had to collapse to make it happen. Doesn't get any better than that!! So, I win the bet. Even not counting a 12 run game that we had in hand, and with so much of our offense on the bench in the month of August, we still win by 10 runs 302-292. Turns out the Braves do NOT have the best lineup in the NL like Joe Simpson proclaimed on Aug. 1. I'll be working on my message for you to enter on this message board soon. |
